Feed My Sheep

by | Apr 13, 2023 | flock, Jesus, sheep

“He said to him the third time, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love me?’ Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, ‘Do you love me?’ and he said to him, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my sheep.’”

(John 21:17 ESV)

“Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.”

(Acts 20:28 ESV)

Do you know we are charged with feeding Jesus’s sheep? I don’t mean sheep the animal. I mean sheep as in the human flock of Jesus.

Jesus died on the cross for us. Before He died Jesus told Peter to feed His flock. We are the flock of Jesus. We are also charged to feed others.

But how do we feed them? Do we go out and buy a lot of groceries and hand them out? If that’s what needed but we also need to spread the news that Jesus is coming back soon. While you hand out groceries, hand out the information that Jesus saves and He is returning soon to gather His flock.

The devil is out to destroy us. He doesn’t like the fact that Jesus loves us. He doesn’t like it that we serve God and not him. I would much prefer to serve our risen savior than to serve the king of darkness. The only thing that the devil brings to the table is eternity in hell.

Jesus saves us from that. He promises eternity in paradise. I think that sounds pretty good. Eternity in paradise, what a way to spend forever. Jesus died on the cross for us. He died thousands of years ago, before we were even thought of.

Sunday is Easter. The day we celebrate the day He rose from the dead. It’s a day to honor Him, not a fake rabbit and a bunch of chocolate. Don’t get me wrong, I like chocolate but I love Jesus. And He loves me. Let’s spend the day celebrating Jesus.

Have a blessed day and save me a piece of chocolate.
