Praying

by | Mar 27, 2023 | Holy Spirit, Intercession

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” (Romans 8:26 ESV)

“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” (Matthew 6:6 ESV)

A friend and I pray together most evenings. Last night after praying, the devil whispered in my ear, “That was a waste of 20 minutes.” My response? I laughed. Praying is never a waste of time.

But, you see, the devil is like that. He will try to discourage you every chance he can. But I don’t listen to him anymore. For one thing, I don’t like his ideas. Another is I don’t like excessive heat. And that is what hell is and where I would be headed if I listened to him.

I have heard people joke about hell. They say if they go first they will save you a seat. No thanks! I pass! If I go first I will be waiting for you in heaven. Look for me at the gate as you come through. I will be cheering you in.

But seriously, praying is a very good idea. Don’t know how to pray? Just start talking, like you would talk to a friend. Because that’s all God wants, for us to talk to Him. You don’t have to say a long, elaborate prayer, full off thee’s and thou’s. Just talk. Pour out your heart to Him. Tell Him what’s on your mind or heart. Tell Him whatever you like.

Praying clears things up for me. I always feel better after praying, especially in tongues. Tongues is a good way to pray when you don’t know how to pray. Praying in tongues clears the cobwebs out of my head.

So it’s really your choice. Pray or don’t pray, you aren’t hurting anyone but yourself. Tell God your problems and let Him handle them for you.

Have a blessed day everyone.
