I Almost Lost my Joy

by | Mar 18, 2023 | Joy, Love, Peace

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness…” (Galatians 5:22 ESV)

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11 ESV)

Yesterday was a test in patience in more than one way. My elderly neighbor tested my patience all day. And I will admit I did lose it with her once. She would talk over me, butt into my sentence and not let me finish. She was being very rude. I can tolerate a lot but someone interrupting me is not something I tolerate well. I need to work on that.

The devil was on my case for sure yesterday. But every time, except once, I took a deep breath and moved on. I have learned that the devil doesn’t like me very much. But that’s ok. I don’t like him at all. I have also learned that he likes to try to steal my joy. He knows I like being happy and he tries every trick in his book to steal my happiness.

But I will tell you what, I have Jesus on my side. He will fight for me and help me keep my joy.

The devil doesn’t like us happy. He will do whatever he can to make us miserable. If your spouse or kids are acting up, blame the devil. Car acting up? Blame the devil. Any kind of problem? Blame the devil. The best way I have found to get back at the devil is to laugh at him. He hates laughter. So laugh. Don’t let the hater of happiness and joy steal yours.

Laugh at your problems. The more you laugh the better you will feel. They do say laughter is the best medicine. Plus, it’s free. So laugh and see how many more you can get laughing with you. Let’s put the devil on the run.

Have a blessed day everyone.
