Laughter Does the Heart Good

by | Jan 24, 2023 | Joy, troubles

“Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief.” (Proverbs 14:13 ESV)

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11 ESV)

I have always heard laughing is good for you. While researching this I found an interesting tidbit:
joy
One study suggests that healthy children may laugh as much as 400 times per day, but adults tend to laugh only 15 times per day.”

Wonder why adults don’t laugh more? Could it be lack of confidence?

Laughter is one of my all-time favorite stress managements because it’s free, convenient, and beneficial in so many ways. Laughter is beneficial for your health but so is crying. For some reason both activities relax you.

You know who hates to us laugh? The devil, that’s who. He hates to see us happy. The devil has been trying to attack me while writing my devotionals. Last night I got extremely sleepy, even though I wasn’t tired before I started writing. Other times he has made me sick to my stomach. But I still went on. He doesn’t want me doing this. But the jokes on him, I feel there will be another book in the near future. That will really make the devil mad. But I don’t care. I just keep laughing at him.

You can too. Just start laughing. If bills are piling up, laugh. Kids acting the fool, laugh. Car giving you trouble, laugh.

Ella Wheeler Wilcox wrote, “Laugh, and the world laughs with you; Weep, and you weep alone; For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth, But has trouble enough of its own.”

So next time you feel like crying, laugh. It will make you feel better.

Have a blessed day everyone.
