Searching and Seeking

by | Sep 7, 2022 | Salvation, Seeking

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

(Matthew 6:33 ESV)

“Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!”

(1 Chronicles 16:11 ESV)

“I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.”

(Proverbs 8:17 ESV)

Have you ever searched for something? Maybe you misplaced your car keys or cell phone.

About 20 years ago I started a search. That search has ended but I am still seeking.

Google defines searching as, “To look into or over carefully or thoroughly in an effort to find or discover something.” Google defines seeking as, “To try to find or discover by searching or questioning.”

So not a big difference but it is different. To me, search means to look for something until you find it. To seek, to me is questioning, look for information. All those years ago I was searching for something. That something was Jesus. I found Him. Now I seek Him every day. I seek His face daily. And I find Him daily, right here beside me. I need Jesus every minute, every second of every day. I can’t do this on my own.

My life was busy 20 some years ago. I didn’t think I need Jesus as much as I really did. Then one day I lost my job. I felt lost. I had an overwhelming urge to go back to church. I did. And I don’t regret my decision for a moment.

Jesus is calling you today. Will you answer that call? I guarantee you it will be a good decision if you did. So I encourage you today to search for Jesus. Then once you find Him, seek His face everyday.

Have a blessed day everyone. Jesus loves you very much.
