“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

(1 John 2:15 ESV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

(John 3:16 ESV)

That’s a very good question. Who do you love?

I am not talking about people in your life. I am talking about which do you love best? Jesus or the world? I pray you said Jesus and not the world. 

I feel for anyone who puts the world first. The world will only drag you down. It will lead you astray. Jesus will lead you and walk with you to help you make the right decisions. He will encourage you to do right.

For example, yesterday I was taking a short road trip. About half way there I saw a guy walking in the opposite direction carrying a gas can. My better judgment told me to keep going. God nudged me to turn around, give him a ride. I told God it wasn’t a good idea to pick up strangers. God’s reply, “He’s not a stranger. I know him.” So I told God as I turned around that He needed to protect me. His reply, “Don’t I always?”

Pete was a very nice man who is hard of hearing. God did not lead me to tell him about Jesus because he already knows him. It was a fairly quiet ride but one I am glad I detoured for. And if you think God doesn’t love everyone, read John 3:16. He loved us enough to send his son to die on the cross so we can live.

“Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”

So who do you love? The world or Jesus. Choose carefully. Eternity is a very long time to spend in hell.
