“For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”
(Romans 6:14 ESV)
“And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”
(John 1:16 ESV)
I grew up singing Amazing Grace in church. But I looked up the lyrics last night. There’s a verse I didn’t know about. But let’s start at the first verse:
“Amazing Grace how sweet the sound,
Amazing Grace, first verse by John Newton
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.”
I once was lost. That’s me. I was lost but Jesus found me and saved me. I now see clearly the things of this world. When I gave my life to Jesus, He nurtured and taught me. He opened my eyes to see the world around me. He showed me I don’t want to stay here. When my days are done, don’t ask Jesus to extend my life. Just let me go on home.
Verse 5:
“Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
Amazing Grace, fifth verse by John Newton
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.”
This is what I want, what I long for. A life of joy and peace. I can’t get it here. Joy and peace are pretty much non existent here now. But once I am gone, oh the joy that will flood my soul to be in heaven.
I know now why mom was ready and anxious to leave here. I know she hated to leave us kids and the grand and great grandkids, but she wanted to go home so bad.
Verse 4:
“The Lord has promised good to me,
Amazing Grace, 4th verse by John Newton
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.”
Is He your shield? Is He the Savior of your life? No better time than right now to make Him your Lord and Savior. Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Have a blessed day everyone.
