“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
(James 4:7 ESV)
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
(1 Peter 5:8 ESV)
I remember growing up in church. Every Sunday morning we were at church. I loved my Sunday school days. We had a lot of fun in the basement of the church, learning about Jesus.
But then I grew up and graduated to the upstairs. My pastor back then was a mild mannered gentleman. But he preached some good sermons. He held my attention. Maybe because I was at their house about as much as I was mine. Their youngest daughter and I were friends. I was listening to the radio and heard the song, “Sunday Sermons” sung by Anne Wilson. There’s a part in it that I really like”
“Devil gon’ try and take me out of that church
Sunday Sermons by Anne Wilson
But you can’t take the church out of me.”
The devil won a long time ago and got me out of church. I was out of church for 24 years. I still prayed and occasionally read my Bible, but I stayed away from church. But as the song says, “You can’t take the church out of me.” The devil still tries to get me out of church. He is trying to get me out of the church I go to now. He keeps telling me no one wants me there, they just tolerate me. I just laugh. The devil is a loser but won’t admit it and give up. So I fight the daily fight and keep laughing at him.
You know the devil doesn’t like laughter. So I laugh as much as I can at him. I like making the devil mad. Maybe then he will give up on me.
One thing I have learned though, if the devil is attacking me, I know God has something good coming for me. And the devil is trying to block it. So don’t give up, your breakthrough is right the corner. So fight and never give up. I’ve read the back of book and we win and the devil loses. God loves you and so do I.
Have a blessed day.
