Books of the Bible

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

(Psalm 119:105 ESV)

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

(John 1:1 ESV)

I was researching topics last night. I wanted to know the least favorite Bible verses. Instead I found the 10 least read books of the Bible. They are:

  1. Obediah
  2. Nahum
  3. 2 John
  4. 3 John
  5. Haggai
  6. Philemon
  7. Zephaniah
  8. Jude
  9. Joel
  10. Jonah

Why these are the least favorite is beyond me. My least favorites are the 2 books of Chronicles. I know God thinks it’s important who begat who, but it’s all I can do to read them.

Then I looked for the most popular books. They are:

  1. Psalm
  2. Matthew
  3. John
  4. Romans
  5. Proverbs
  6. Genesis
  7. Luke
  8. 1 Corinthians
  9. Isaiah
  10. Acts

I like these books, but my favorite is Genesis. It has the stories in it. Adam and Eve, Noah and the flood, Joseph and his family, along with others.

I like reading Genesis because it shows God’s power. He created Adam and Eve from dirt. Can you do that then breath life into them? I didn’t think so. He saved Joseph from his brothers by letting him be sold into slavery. But then He used him to save everyone from a famine. Don’t forget Noah. It was a miracle in itself that the animals all got along and didn’t try to kill, or eat, each other. Try putting that many animals in a boat without cages and see what happens.

If you want to see God’s power, watch the sun rise, or set. Watch the earth come back to life after a long, cold winter. That’s God’s power at work. We serve a mighty God. We may not understand everything He does, but He has His reasons. And only God knows them.

So put God’s power to work in your life today. Ask Him for His strength and power, then let Him work.

Have a blessed day.
