“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.”
(1 Peter 2:21 ESV)
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
(John 8:12 ESV)
As I was rasearching topics last night, I came across the song, “Footsteps of Jesus” written by Mary Bridges Cannady Slade.
“Sweetly, Lord, have we heard Thee calling,
Footsteps of Jesus by Mary Bridges Cannady Slade
‘Come, follow Me!”
And we see where Thy footprints falling,
lead us to Thee.
Footprints of Jesus that make the pathway glow;
we will follow the steps of Jesus where’er they go.”
As I listened to the song, I got to thinking. What better footsteps to follow than those of Jesus? I know I will never compare to Jesus, but what better example of how to live my life? Jesus led a perfect life. He led scores of people to God. He performed miracles. Yet people hated Him.
I think they hated Him because they didn’t know Him and probably didn’t want to. What a loss to go through life not knowing Jesus. But it’s never too late. As long as your breathing you can turn your life around and give it to Jesus.
“Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that You raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do Your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
Give your life to Jesus. Let Him change you. He changed me. I gave my life to Him as a preteen but got hurt in church and walked away. I should say I walked away from church, not Jesus. I still prayed and occasionally read my Bible. I just didn’t go to church. But I went back finally and Jesus welcomed me with open arms. Isn’t it time to give your life to Jesus? Its not too late.
Have a great day.
