Sowing Seeds

“The sower sows the word.” (Mark 4:4 ESV)

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” (2 Corinthians 9:6 ESV)

It’s no big secret that what you sow you reap. So you sow seeds for a future harvest. I remember a conversation I had awhile back with a friend. We were talking about seed time and harvest. My finances being what they were at the time, I told her I didn’t have a lot of extra money to give away. I was told it doesn’t have to be money. I give of myself, helping others as I can. I give rides to my neighbors who don’t have a car. I love to craft. I make things for outreaches. I share extra food I get from mobile markets or the food pantry. She said all that is sowing into others.

Another type of sowing is time. You can sow some of your time into helping others. Maybe just listening to someone who needs to talk could be time sowed.

Jesus taught the parable of the sower. Some seed fell on the path and the birds ate it. Some fell on rocky ground but didn’t have much soil so it was scorched when the sun came up. Other seed fell on good soil where it produced good grain. The sower is sowing the word of God. Where will your seed fall? Will it produce the harvest God wants us to produce?

Think about it.

Have a blessed day.
