“Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29 ESV)

“He makes his messengers winds, his ministers a flaming fire.” (Psalm 104:4 ESV)

Here lately I have noticed that I am missing my fire. Oh, I have my joy, but the fire is gone. Spending time in the word is harder, writing these devotionals are harder and praying is like walking through mud.

Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t quit any of it, it’s just getting harder to do. I heard this song, “Start a Fire” by Unspoken. This is my request to God”

“Start a fire in my soul
Fan the flame and make it grow
So there’s no doubt or denying.
Let it burn so brightly
That everyone around can see,
That it’s You, that it’s You that we need

Start a fire in me Lord. Ignite the embers and grow them into flames. We all need to fan the flames and get others on fire for God. We need the grace of God in our lives.

My neighbor knows I don’t watch the news and don’t really want to hear about it. But she tells me anyway. There is a lot of unrest in our country. She told me about riots again. We need God to fan the flames and set his people on fire to get others saved.

But satan comes to distract and derail us. He is trying to derail me right now. I feel something crawling on me but there’s nothing there. Before you say it’s just nerves, I say no! I know my body and I know satan’s attacks. This is one because he doesn’t want this message to be heard. But I will not be silenced by the enemy. He has no power over me.

So God, light me up. Fan the flames and set me on fire for you!
