Keep It Simple

by | Sep 10, 2021 | Salvation

“The Lord preserves the simple; when I was brought low, I was saved.” (Psalm 116:6 NKJ)

“For God is not a God of confusion, but of peace.” (1 Corinthians 14:33 NKJ)

Danny Gokey sings the song, “Love God Love People. “Here is part of it:

“I tell myself to keep this up
That God wants more than just my love
But I’ve been complicating things
It’s just like me to overthink
Gotta keep it real simple, keep it real simple
Bring everything right back to ground zero
‘Cause it all comes down to this
Love God and love people
We’re living in a world that keeps breakin’
But if we want to find a way to change it
It all comes down to this Love God and love people.”

That’s what we do. We complicate things with wrong thinking. We stick our nose in it and make it harder than it needs to be. Loving God is easy. Getting saved is easy. Nothing is complicated in God. He loves us and desires our love in return. Is that so much to ask? Just simple love and obedience.

We, at least people my age, grew up with our parents expecting us to obey them. That’s what God expects too. I know that if I didn’t obey my parents, I faced consequences. I didn’t like those consequences so I obeyed. We face consequences from God too if we don’t obey. If we don’t give our lives to him by being saved, we face eternity below.

I don’t know about you, but extreme heat and torment are not high on my list of fun times. But God wants us with Him in Heaven. It’s really easy.

So stop overthinking things and make a commitment to God today. Repent and ask Him into your heart. Keep it simple. It doesn’t have to be a long prayer full of thee’s and thou’s. Just tell God you’re sorry. Ask Him to forgive you and come into your heart. (If you need some help with this, click this link)

Just like, you are forgiven and saved. Then welcome to the family of God. That’s one decision you will never regret.

It’s Sunday. Go to church. It’s a good place to spend the morning.

Have a great day.
