Keeping My Joy

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24 NKJ)

“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise.” (Psalm 95:1-2 NKJ)

Tuesday night at church we watched a video. It was a great video. I love Brother Hagan videos. After it was over, we laughed. And laughed and laughed. It was great. On my way home I couldn’t stop smiling. I was listening to JoyFM, singing and smiling. All was right with my world. And still so when I got up yesterday morning.

While researching joy, I came across the biblical definition. It says that “joy is a feeling of good pleasure and happiness that is dependent on who Jesus is rather than who we are or what is happening around us. Joy comes from the holy spirit, abiding in God’s presence and from hope in his word.”

Google defines it as, “A feeling of great pleasure and happiness.”

I like both definitions. But Tuesday night felt different. I felt a weight lifting off me. I was smiling as I watched a storm in the distance as I drove home. I don’t like to drive at night in the rain. It’s hard for me to see sometimes. But still I smiled. Yesterday I kept smiling. I was even nice to my neighbor. That my friends was a miracle in itself. He is not easy to like. But I want to encourage you all to embrace joy. Laugh at the devil. He hates it but God loves it.

Have a great day everyone.
