Renewed!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV)

“And to be renewed in the spirit of your minds.” (Ephesians 4:23 ESV)

I took a short road trip yesterday. I arrived at my destination before sunrise. I was blessed to see the sun come up and start to warm a very chilly morning. As I sat and watched the sun come up, I got to thinking. Everyday we have another chance to get it right. We have another opportunity to do what God wants us to do.

But do we take that chance? Do we use the new day to bring glory to God or do we just fritter away our time? (Fritter, my grandma’s favorite word for when we didn’t do anything constructive with our time.)

But as I watched the sun rise, I realized that God allowed me another day for a reason. I knew I could just waste the day or do something constructive. I decided to do something constructive. I went to a mobile market and picked up food for several families that couldn’t get there. I was also blessed with a visit from a very dear friend. We went car shopping. For her, not me. (Although I need to. My car is making a lot of strange noises lately.)

I think I spent most of my day wisely. While sitting in my car in line, I got out my tablet and pulled up my Bible ap and read awhile. I also prayed, especially on the way there. I prayed that God would keep all the animals off the road until I was past. Deer do a lot of damage to a car. I know a lot of people are busy and can’t or won’t find the time to spend time with God. But you don’t need to block out huge chunks of time. I used to pray on the way to work every day. My best time with God is in my car.

So find some time in your busy schedules to spend time with God. He loves you and wants to hear from you. Then call your parents. Tell them you love them. They want to hear from you too.

God bless you.
