“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1 ESV)
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36. ESV)
Do you need freedom? Bondage comes in all kinds of ways. Are you addicted to something? Is drugs your problem? What about alcohol or overeating? Yes, overeating is an addiction.
Those are just a few examples of forms of addiction. They may seem impossible to be free from, but they can be broken. I have heard people say just put it down and walk away. Obviously they have never had an addiction problem. It’s not easy. I know. I have a food addiction.
Hello. My name is Kathy and I’m an over eater.
I did attend OA for awhile. It’s not easy to get up in front of people and admit you have a problem. But if you really want freedom, you need to first admit you have a problem. I admit I have a food problem.
But I can’t just put it down and walk away. A person needs food to keep living. But the first choice I can make is to eat better. The next choice I have is to ask God for help.
That is where I need help. I don’t know why, I ask God for other things, but this one is hard.
My mom told me something years ago. She had a friend who had a very overweight daughter. Mom told this person, before I was born, that is she ever had a daughter, she would never let her get that heavy. I have been overweight all my life. I have tried everything out there. Nothing works. So I am breaking agreement today with generational curses spoken over me.
Mom didn’t know she was doing that. I don’t blame her. I am asking God to help me with this weight. I ask God for divine intervention on my behalf. I repent of gluttony.
So if you are struggling with addiction of any kind or any other issues, ask God for help. He is there waiting for us all to call on him for help.
