Sing a Song

“A psalm for giving thanks. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!” (Psalm 100:1-2 ESV)

“Is anyone suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing.” (James 5:13 ESV)

I was scrolling through Facebook yesterday and found a video of kids singing. It was a song from Sesame Street.

“Sing, sing a song
Make it simple
to last your whole life long
Don’t worry that it’s not good enough
for anyone else to hear
Just sing,
sing a song.”

God wants us to sing to him. He wants our praises. I was told at an early age that I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket. So I quit singing in public. But I sing to God in my car, in my home, while I do dishes, I sing to God. I even sang to my 3 year great granddaughter in tongues while I rocked her to sleep. She is the only person that asks me to sing.

But no where in the Bible does it say we have to have the voice of an angel to sing. God said make a joyful noise, he never it has to be good.

So if you have the voice of an angel or you can’t carry a tune, sing. Sing a song to your loving Father. He loves our voices no matter what we sound like and he is waiting for us to sing to him.

And who knows, he may just sing back to you. Wouldn’t that be great? Remember to set clocks ahead and hour tonight.
