“Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.'” (John 14:23 ESV)
“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.” (Deuteronomy 28:1 ESV)
I was listening to music yesterday afternoon. The song “Why Me Lord” came on. I asked the Lord that question. Why did you pick me to write these every day? Surely there is someone who knows the Bible better or is a better writer than me.
God agreed. There are others who know the Bible better. And others who write better than you.
So then, why me?
His answer, because “I asked and you obeyed without hesitating.”
That is what God wants of us, obedience without hesitation. He said He asked me because He wanted to stretch me even further. He wants to build my trust.
These are not always easy to write. Some are really hard while others almost write themselves. I guess that is where the trust comes in. God wants me to trust Him to give me topics everyday. There are times when I don’t have a topic. Then I hear a song, or read something that gives me inspiration.
God wants my obedience. He wants to stretch me and teach me so I just know, and don’t doubt myself, when he is speaking to me.
I am not where I need to be in my walk with him. But then, is anyone truly where they need to be? Isn’t there something that can be improved on or changed? Examine your life. If everything’s perfect, you don’t have anything that needs adjusting, call me. Tell me how you did it. I really want to go higher in the things of God.
It’s been almost a year now and they are still going. I guess God isn’t done with me yet.
