“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 ESV)

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21 ESV)

This happened to me about 10 years ago but it is still vivid in my mind today.

It was a dark and rainy Tuesday night in October. I was coming home from church. I rounded a curve and saw a dark figure standing by the road. My head lights went around this very large shape. I could not even see the top of his head. I couldn’t see any facial features. It was like a very big, dark mass. As I got even to this figure, I had a feeling of pure evil invade my car. I will admit I was scared. I was a baby Christian and wasn’t sure what to do. I called a friend from church. She prayed, took authority over it and then just talked to me until the feeling passed.

That was the first and last time I ever felt evil around me to that extent. Oh, there are times I feel evil spirits around me. But now I know I have authority over them. I can command them to leave just by using the name of Jesus.

That name has incredible power. And we have access to it whenever we need it. I seriously believe I had an accounter with satan, mainly because of the level of evil I felt. I can feel the dark, evil spirits at times, that try to derail my walk with God. But once I use my God given authority, they flee. Oh, I’m not saying they don’t try to come back, but I keep sending them packing. You have the same authority that I do. When the devil tries to take you down, call on the name of Jesus. That will get rid of them. So if the devil is after you today say, “In the name of Jesus, I command you to leave. I plead the blood of Jesus over me. Satan you have no right in my life.”

Always remember, I can’t stress it enough, God loves you.
