My father-in-law, a retired Assemblies of God minister, was on his deathbed. It was September of 2001, and he had been enduring the dying process for weeks. A minister friend of his stopped at his bedside one last time and was surprised to find Brother Grant fully awake, watching the television coverage of 9/11.
So there was the minister friend, wanting to offer comfort and wondering how to do so while my father-in-law continued to watch the scenes of destruction on the television screen. “So, Brother Grant,” said the friend, trying to find appropriate words, “What do you think of this old world?”
Brother Grant replied without hesitation: “God’s still in charge.”
