What is a Mother?

by | Apr 22, 2020 | Mother's Day, Poem

What is a Mother, but the first love of your’ life;
She is a daughter, a sister, an Aunt, and a wife.

She has the patience of Job and the wisdom of Solomon;
The beauty of Bathsheba and the understanding of Ruth.

She has superhuman qualities, can do a hundred things and see out the back of her head;
Drive kids to school, clean, do laundry, cook, do the shopping all before she goes to bed.

Stay up all night when her child is sick making him feel safe and secure;
Understanding him better than any other human could, of this I am totally sure.

One-by-one her children will leave to start families of their own;
She prays, daily, for them knowing one day they will all be gone.

She leads by example and always puts God first in her life;
Praying that her children would see and choose the path of Jesus Christ.

The love of a mother is as-close-as we will get to God’s love while we are still on earth;
God gave us life with unconditional love, and Mom gave us life and love through birth.

Love your Mom while she is still here and let her know it every day;
For the time will finally come, when you and she will have to part ways.
