The Ramp

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.” NIV

My 3 miniature long haired dachshunds love to be with me. They follow me wherever they can, which includes going up to bed with me at night. Unfortunately for them however they cannot get onto my bed. There little legs are simply too short and no matter how hard or how high they jump they cannot attain the necessary height to reach me. Thus I came up with a solution to their impossible plight. I bought a ramp which I placed at the end of the bed. Now they are able to have access to me any time they want.

Similarly we cannot get to God, our Heavenly Father through our own means. It doesn’t matter how many good deeds we do. It doesn’t matter how hard we might try. It doesn’t matter if we have been born and raised in a Christian family. It doesn’t matter if we attend church every Sunday and tithe to the last penny. None of these things can bring us into personal relationship with our Heavenly Father. And why might this be you ask? Because all mankind has sinned and fall short of God’s glory and the cost of sin is spiritual separation from God. Romans 3:23 & Romans 6:23

But just as I came up with a solution, in the form of a ramp, to my little dog’s plight because I love and care for them God also came up with a solution to mankind’s’ plight.

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Christ became our ramp. Through faith in Him and what he has done for us we can have eternal access to God our Heavenly Father, always able to enjoy relationship with Him and all the blessings that ensue.

Today perhaps you are reading this and in your heart you know that you have not yet trusted in Christ to be your Saviour, the way, the truth and the life, the One and only one who can lead you to your Heavenly Father. If so, may it also be the day that you choose to stop trusting in yourself for salvation and by faith cross over the ramp of life God has provided in Christ Jesus for you. A choice which I can assure you, you will never, ever regret.

Prayer: Father God we give thanks today for your great love which you demonstrated toward us through Jesus Christ. Bless those who have not yet come to You through Christ with open hearts and faith to cross over today. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.
