The Hidden Ridgeway Battlefield: Majestic Mountain View, Part 37

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers-most of which are never even seen-don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving.” Matthew 6:30-31 (MSG)

It is so true. If our Heavenly Father gives so much attention to wildflowers, how much more does He want to pay attention to us, human beings, the crown of His creation. He proved His love by sending His Son who willingly died on a lonely cross, so that we could find our way back to our loving Father.

Lonely? You don’t need to feel that way. God loves the lonely people and sustains them. Relax and feel His presence, His arms hugging you tenderly.

The only problem with humanity is that we are too preoccupied with receiving. Think about children. They receive new toys and initially are so excited; but within a week or two, these new toys are ignored. In the same way, even though we may pursue material things, this is not what makes us happy. We may not realize it, but our Heavenly Father’s presence is way more exciting than anything else.

Think about it. He offers His friendship! All we need to do is receive it and enjoy relaxing in His presence. Only then will we be completely happy. After all, our Heavenly Daddy is on our side! He even cares about the little things in life. Imagine, the Almighty loves you! Wow!

This past summer, I went out every day to explore the many tourist attractions in my region. I learned a lot about where I lived!

One of the places I wanted to visit was the Ridgeway Battlefield, where the Feneans attacked Canada. I programmed my GPS with the right coordinates and set out…only to end up…nowhere!

Instead I decided to visit the Fort Erie’s Historical Museum that is found in Ridgeway. This, too, focused on the Feneans battle. When I left I asked the clerk for the address of the Ridgeway Battlefield, and he gave it to me. Again I ended up… nowhere!

II had to laugh about that. After all, what else could I do but laugh! Finally I decided to ask my Heavenly Father. At least He knew where this attraction was located: “Lord, I have no idea where this attraction is located, but You do. It’s not that important, but do help me to find it please. You know how distracted I am while I drive. Help me notice this place. Thank you, Father.”

So here I was driving with no address, no GPS, depending solely on my Heavenly Father. All of a sudden I saw a cairn. Amazing! I never would have seen this, but the cairn marked the battlefield, the place I was looking for. “Thank you Father! You are the best!

The attraction was not the most important, however. I was especially excited to experience the love of my Heavenly daddy.

Coincidence? I don’t think so.

A few days later, I was lost in another town (Are you sensing a theme here?). After visiting a lovely park, I programmed my GPS to head home. It led me to a small road and wanted me to enter the highway. However, the entrance to the highway was under construction and was closed. I followed the detour signs, but the GPS continually insisted I returned to the construction site. I decided to ignore my GPS and asked my Heavenly Father for directions instead. I was in a unknown neighborhood. I had no idea where I was, but I followed His directions. He was quite clear where I should turn and where I should go straight, and in the end, I found myself at home. Thank You God!

God cares for even our minutest concerns. He loves us, and in His presence we can completely relax: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
