One Word: It’s all we Need! The forgotten Message, Part 14

by | Apr 10, 2020 | Healing, Miracles, The Forgotten Message

“Heal anyone who is sick, and tell them, ‘God’s kingdom is right on your doorstep!'” (Luke 10:9, MSG)

“He commissioned them to preach the news of God’s kingdom and heal the sick.” (Luke 9:2, MSG)

Working with our Heavenly Father always astonishes me. One word from Him and it happens. One word! The same is true when we speak forth His Word: Healings occur!

Jesus commissioned His apostles and followers to not only preach salvation, but also to heal in His name, for this confirms that His Word is true. One cannot prosper without the other.

We, too, have the same commission: “These are some of the signs that will accompany believers: They will throw out demons in my name, they will speak in new tongues, they will take snakes in their hands, they will drink poison and not be hurt, they will lay hands on the sick and make them well.” (Mark 16:17-18, MSG)

Healing is a manifestation that God is real and that He loves us more than we could ever imagine, no matter who we are.

When someone is healed, excitement reigns, and we cannot stop from speaking “The Word”, the Word of healing that leads to salvation. These Words are powerful because they are the very Words of our Heavenly Father, and they are spread unhindered.

It’s amazing how our Father likes to involve us in His work. How exciting it is to experience how He always comes through: Healing, salvation, forgiveness, love, compassion…People are truly changed. They carry our Father’s words in their hearts. After experiencing Him personally in this way, there is no way would they ever want to renounce our Father. They know beyond a doubt that our Father loves them.

If we cut the message in two by only focusing on Salvation or only focusing on healing, this cuts the Word of God in two, and we leave people wanting. They have not heard the full gospel message: “Preach the news of God’s kingdom and heal the sick.” How can they know for certain what is really true? Only when His Words become a reality!

While in prison, John the Baptist wondered: “Are you the One we’ve been expecting, or are we still waiting?” (Matt 11:3b, MSG)

Jesus did not answer: “I am the one. Look I preach salvation to anyone.” Anyone could declare this, and many of them are fakes! Instead Jesus answered: “The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the wretched of the earth learn that God is on their side.” (Matt 11:5, MSG) The only way to confirm the message is when our Heavenly Father manifests His healing to those in need. After all, one word and healing occurs! It’s our Father we are talking about! He loves goes beyond anyone’s imagination!

In our ministry, we pray for people who we have never met. Some responds to share their joy with us, while others don’t and that is fine. After all, all glory goes to our Father! But one thing I have noticed is that our Father usually heals through different means. Some of these methods may look mundane to some, but if we delve a bit more deeply, we realize that our Father has come through big time.

A few days ago I heard from someone who had received her healing from blindness more than a year ago. Her healing was quite different from the norm. One of our volunteers had asked us to pray for her niece, Irene, who lives in the Philippines. She was born with a film covering each of her eyes, and because of this, she was completely blind. No doctors in the Philippines could heal her. There was no hope for her to ever see.

We started to pray for her healing. Around the same time we began praying for her, her mother read the local newspaper and noticed that an ophthalmologist from the United States was on vacation in their neighborhood. Irene’s mother had no idea why she had even picked up the paper, but reading about this doctor somehow filled her with hope.

Irene’s mom arranged a meeting with him. Imagine their delight to learn that Irene only needed minor surgery to cut away the film from her eyes. For the first time in her life, Irene could see. She was amazed at the many colors surrounding her. She felt she was in heaven. “I can see! I can see!” She cried as tears flowed for her healed eyes.

This may look mundane, still the miraculous occurred by pronouncing the Word of our Father. There is no coincidence that Irene’s mother read the paper right around when we were praying the Word of God into her life. There was no coincidence that hope filled her heart; and our Father came through in unfathomable ways.

As an extra bonus, the dad had left his wife and daughter, but when he heard that his daughter was healed, he came back. Irene’s family was compltely restored!

But then, this is our Father we’re talking about! He cares!

We have a choice: To believe in our own words, or to depend completely on the Words of our Father. One will leave us blind, the other will open our eyes wide.
