Words are powerful, far more so than we think. Just one word can change our world drastically, and our Heavenly Father is our best illustration: “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isa 55:11, NIV2)
In other words, when our Heavenly Father speaks, it will happen. No doubt about it! His words always come true. How else could it be!
The creation of our world occurred through the words of our Father: “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” (Gen 1:3, NIV2) and “And God said, ‘Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.’ And it was so.” (Gen 1:9, NIV2) In fact all of Genesis 1 shows that with just one word from our Father, it occurs. His words are always true!
“But I the LORD will speak what I will, and it shall be fulfilled without delay.” (Ezek 12:25a, NIV2) One word from God and it happens! One word!
When Jesus appeared in our neighborhood, he was called “The Word” (John 1:1); the Word that would fulfill what was weighing heavily on our Heavenly Father’s heart: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV2)
Not only did He bring salvation, Jesus showed that when we depend on our Heavenly Father and speak forth His words, miracles will occur. Nothing happens in God’s Kingdom without pronouncements. When in faith we speak forth what our Heavenly Father is telling us, it will come to pass, no doubt about it!
Let me illustrate this with what happened to the brother of one of our volunteers. He was in a terrible car accident. It was a miracle that he was still alive. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital and was placed in ICU. He was in a deep coma with bleeding on his brain. It didn’t look good. We started to pray for him to come out of his coma. While I was praying, I felt the assurance from our Heavenly Father that he would come out of it.
Nothing happened for two weeks, but we never gave up praying for his return from his coma. However his family had already prepared for his funeral because the doctors said there was no hope. Then one day the impossible became possible. A pastor wandered into his room, whispered into his ear, and wandered off. It was at this moment his eyes started fluttering. The next day, although still unable to comprehend what was going on, he opened his eyes and for the first time managed a smile. He had that unmistakable glow that Jesus had taken over and everything was going to be fine. He was then transferred to a regular hospital room. God’s Word never comes back void!
Allan now is back home and undergoes physical therapy. I can imagine he is quite thankful for what our Heavenly Father has done for him.
Anyone can experience healing if we have faith in our Heavenly Father’s Words. The more we depend on Him, the more we live in the abundant grace being bestowed upon those in deep need, no matter where they are!
Do you believe? It only takes one word!
