The Weapons of the World: God’s Armament, Part 3

by | Apr 2, 2020 | God's Armament, Protection, War, Weapons of the Kingdom

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.” (2 Corinthians 10:4 NIV2)

In this world, there is so much hate that we want weapons to protect us. Gun ownership is on the rise, and it is no longer uncommon to see people walking around with guns on their belts. The first time we saw this was in a restaurant. We were sitting across the isle from someone who was wearing a gun. We weren’t sure how the other customers looked at this man, but I can tell you that we didn’t feel comfortable! After all, we came for a relaxing dinner, and instead, we had to worry about a man with a gun!

What is interesting to note is that people who wear guns always seem to be on the alert. You never know when something will happen.

Those who trust in God, however, will never have to worry.

Remember, even if you carry a gun, it cannot save your life if you are shot.

This all brings to my mind some funny imagery: Can you imagine someone entering Heaven with a gun? Why would they need a gun? There is no war in Heaven! Instead, there is love! And if we want to follow Jesus, we show His genuine love all the time!

Our weapons are about love: The love that can demolish strongholds (See 2 Corinthians 10:5)!

Think about it this way: How would we feel if God came to us with a gun? I don’t know about you, but it wouldn’t make me feel very good! We have a choice to make: We can either trust in our earthly weapons, or we can decide to put our trust in our Heavenly Father and His weaponry of love.
