Human Knowledge? Or God’s Knowledge? God’s Armament, Part 2

Last Monday, in God’s Armament, Part 1, we saw that only God’s armour can shield us from the devil.

But just how powerful IS God’s armour?

The good news is, we have armour with which we can, “…demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV2)

Knowledge can be good; but even though many in this world think they have knowledge, they know nothing compared to our Heavenly Father. The devil tries to set himself up against the knowledge…not of this world, but of God. God’s armour protects us from this!

In this world, we tend to think that we have plenty of knowledge. But where does our knowledge lead?

Let’s look, for example, at a little child.  Abortion is on the rise. An unborn child is not even given the chance to live, and it’s all cushioned under the human knowledge of “women have the right to choose”.

And then there are the children of this world. They are innocent, vulnerable. Their parents are sure they have the knowledge they need to raise them. There are parents, however, who mistreat their children. I once had a 12-year-old student. His parents kicked him out of the house, and if he dared return, he was kicked out again with the words: “I don’t want to see you ever again!” How can such a child survive?

The knowledge of God is far better, for this is how Jesus treated children: “Taking a child, He set him before them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them, ‘Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me.'” (Mark 9:36-37 NIV2).

This is just one example of how human knowledge fails. But it doesn’t have to be so. With God’s armament, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God.” (2 Corinthians 10:5a NIV2).
