Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path. (HCSB)
Isaiah 30:21 – Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go”, whether to the right or to the left. (NLT)
Our town is a mail stop on the Appalachian Trail. I have talked to some of the hikers on the trail. I have learned that every now and then, a tree will be marked to let them know that they are on the right trail. There are many other trails that intersect the Appalachian Trail. Sometimes, hikers will come to a fork and guess which trail to hike, and then after a while, realize they were not on the right trail.
Our life is a trail. We do have a road map for our life called the Bible. In it, we can read about the trail Jesus Christ expects us to follow.
At times in our lives, there are situations in which we cannot find specific verses that tell us what to do. In these cases, we can rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit. This is the way God leads us in our lives. We will hear Him say, “This is the way.”
On this trail called life, let us daily read our Bible to know what God expects. Let us also spend time in prayer daily and be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit so we will know the way to go.
Prayer: Father, forgive us when we don’t follow the trail on which You would have us travel. Help us to commune with You so that we will know Your voice and then be willing to follow Your leading. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
