Just as I Am

This is a true poem about my alter call, back in 1973, the night I got saved. I will never forget that night. It was the most wonderful feeling I ever had in my life. I love that song, “Just AS I Am” that’s the song they were singing when I went up to the alter. It was so beautiful. HUGS: Vickie

I’ve been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb,
My sins washed white as snow.
When the choir stood up to sing,
“Just As I Am,”My tears raged out of control.

I don’t remember walking up to the alter
Or kneeling with my knees on the floor.
But, I do recall His sweet low voice,
When He came knocking at my heart’s door.

I remember begging His forgiveness
For all of the things I’d done wrong.
I asked Him to take all my burdens,
The one’s that I’d carried so long.

He said He’d forgive my transgressions
And toss them into the sea.
He said, “I will never forsake you,
Your soul will live on endlessly.”

When I stood up from the alter;
My heart felt as light as thin air.
My sins, and burdens were lifted by The Lamb
That night the choir sang, “Just As I Am.”
