I remember during one of our first vigils, my time slot was 10:00 in the morning. You must understand that being a fledgling church, our office was a very obscure store front in a small strip of businesses. Yet while I was there praying alone, a young man came to the door wanting to know if someone could talk to him about how to become a Christian.
I was astounded. It was our first profession of faith, and it appropriately happened while I was praying, not preaching. I was so moved by the experience that we planned another vigil for the next Saturday, and I signed up again, this time for 4:00 in the afternoon.
Again, while I was praying, I heard a knock at the door only to discover another troubled young man who was looking for answers. He, too, accepted Christ, becoming our second profession of faith. For that to have happened once was almost unbelievable, but twice-I knew God was speaking to me. He showed me, “If you will find Me, others will find you.” Prayer evangelism works. When we pray targeting the Great Commission, people are drawn to Christ, not by our sign or our building, but by the Holy Spirit.”
