Why do we Worry? When Grace Came Down, Part 23
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you
will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks
receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will
be opened." (Matt 7:7-8 NIV)
We retired two years ago, and we wanted a smaller
home. The "family home", where we had raised our boys, sat on 1.5 acres of
land, and the house was over 2200 sq feet. We needed to have less space to
care for!
We had a great real estate agent. He did his best,
but nine months later, the house still wasn’t sold when we left to "winter"
in "warmer parts"! That year took us the Caribbean for three months, where
we hoped to without worry about our house.
While we were away, our agent kept in touch with
us. We had only been away for a couple weeks when we got the message: Our
house was sold! Unfortunately, there were renovations that had to happen in
order for our old home to be able to pass inspection. The plumbing would
have to be replaced, and this would mean large holes in the drywall that
would need to be repaired. The holes were so extensive in the ceiling of the
family room that the entire ceiling would have to be replaced.
Praise be to God, He provided a plumber who did
the work for a very reasonable price; and then He provided someone to fix
most of the dry wall in exchange for our old snow blower. And then, through
our real estate agent, God provided a contractor to fix the ceiling that had
to be replaced in the family room. It all went well, and we were able to
continue to relax in the sun while the repairs went on in our home back in
Canada.
Before we left the country, our Real Estate Agent
showed us several potential new homes for us. Unfortunately for us, we
didn’t know our house would take nearly 10 months to sell, and all of the
nice homes we saw were sold long before we could put in an offer. The house
we liked the most, however, was still available when our home finally
sold…We never had to worry. God came through on all angles.
Whatever problems you are facing, you can face
them as relaxed as we faced the problems with the sale and repairs of our
home and the purchase of the new one. All you need to do is trust our
Heavenly Father. He loves you. He cares for you. Remember: When grace came
down, one of the beautiful gifts, aside from Salvation, is the gift of
peace. We can have that peace in our hearts, no matter what we face. All we
have to do is put our trust in the One who gave it all for us. We need to
remember that He paid the price on the cross, and no matter how bleak it
looks, we can trust God to take care of us. After all, didn’t He give His
own Son in death so that we could be reconciled as His sons and daughters?
Whatever it is you are worried about, may I ask
you to read and meditate upon this Bible verse every day? If you do, you
will find yourself completely blessed: "Ask and it will be given to you;
seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For
everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who
knocks, the door will be opened." (Matt 7:7-8 NIV)
Why worry when we can trust in the Lord? "Cast all
your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:6 NIV)
