"For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a
child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a
child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For
now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to
face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully
known." (1 Corinthians 13:8a-10 NIV)
Will prophecy be completely perfect for
anyone? No way! When WWII began, many said the Allies would win against
the Germans. However, no one truly knew, and at times, the war looked
grim. If someone tried to prophecy, no one listened. Prophecies will not
make you happy.
Neither will speaking in tongues. Although you
may have that special language from the Holy Spirit, it will never make
you happy. This is what the Bible means when it says, "For we know in
part, and we prophecy in part. But when perfection comes, the imperfect
disappears. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the
greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:12 NIV)
Faith is important,
yes. Prophecy is great and knowledge is fantastic, but if there is no
love, these don't mean anything. Genuine love is way more important. And
perhaps the best news of all is that genuine love, the love of God in
us, will NEVER disappear!
When I was around
twelve years old, I had some dreams. One involved my cousin, and the
other, my brother. I could tell from the dreams that both of them were
heading for catastrophe. I talked with them both, but they wouldn't
listen to me. I prayed and prayed. I cried and cried, but no one
listened.
I was forced to watch my cousin throw her life
away from one man after another.
Did this make her happy?
Not at all.
Not only did he refuse to listen, but my
brother laughed at me. He said: "I will do what I want." And he
proceeded to live his life for pornography and prostitutes. The last
time I saw my brother was at the airport. I tried one more time to warn
him. His response? "It is too late." My poor brother never knew what
real genuine love was. He lived only for himself and when he died, he
was all alone. No one even knew for a few days that he was gone.
Was he happy?
Not at all.
The only thing that will make us happy is
genuine love, the love that comes from our Heavenly Father.
My brother was
wrong. It is never too late to come to our Heavenly Father. Come to Him.
Ask him to liberate you from whatever it is you are addicted to. He will
save you. He loves you. His genuine love will fill you with happiness
and you will live for eternity.
