"Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall
no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of
sin." (Rom 3:20 NKJV)
The 10 commandments
cannot save us. There is no hope for the law. I know many people who
attempt to follow the commandments, expecting the commandments to save
them. They don't understand that it is only Jesus who saves and who
frees us from the burden of sin, and since the commandments can't save
us, these people will have no choice but to continue to sin.
What can we do?
The Bible is clear:
"Now that we are set right with God by means of this sacrificial death,
the consummate blood sacrifice, there is no longer a question of being
at odds with God in any way." (Rom 5:9 MSG)
This means that the
only way to be made right with God is by the sacrificial death of Jesus.
When we accept Jesus' gift, there is no longer any question of not being
right with God! When Jesus came to our planet, He had only one goal: to
save those who would accept His offer.
The law will not save
you. You cannot save yourselves. No one is saved by trying to keep the
law. Only Jesus can saves. He is the only one who never sinned and was
willing to die for us. Salvation is from Jesus and Him alone. Ask Him,
and you will be saved forever.: "If, when we were at our worst, we were
put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now
that we're at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and
deepen by means of his resurrection life! Now that we have actually
received this amazing friendship with God, we are no longer content to
simply say it in plodding prose. We sing and shout our praises to God
through Jesus, the Messiah!" (Rom 5:10-11 MSG)
This reminds me of a
story I read some years ago. While driving his car, a man was involved
in an accident and he died. The driver of the other vehicle felt
terrible, especially when he learned that the man who had died was an
only child. His mother, now completely alone, was grieving. The man
began to visit this mother, and after a few weeks, she forgave him. The
man was so grateful that he told the grieving mother he would like to be
a son to her and take care of her.
Jesus is the same. We
were sinners. we should be in prison. Instead, Jesus forgives. When we
accept His salvation for ourselves, He makes us right with God, even
though we don't deserve it. Shouldn't we be like that man who the mother
forgave? Shouldn't we be so grateful for Jesus' mercy that we accept His
gift of Salvation? That we desire to spend time with Him?
Ever since I reached out my hand to Jesus and
accepted Him as my Lord and Savior, I am filled with the desire to share
His offer with others. He loves us and will stand with us at all times.
Won't you accept Him today? Why not answer the
Saviour's
Call?
