Title

Never Alone. Hope in the distance part 1

Open the window wide open!

Adam and Eve had fallen into temptation. When they listened to the evil one, they  gave him their authority; they agreed with him instead of trusting in our Father.

"Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” Gen 3:8

Whenever we do wrong, we, too, try to hide ourselves from our Heavenly Father. We can try all we want, however, but we cannot hide what we did.

"“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” Gen 3:1

Sadly, Adam and Eve had enjoyed communion with God Himself. Now they were afraid of our Father. It wasn't because God scared them or abandoned them. He couldn't help but love them. That is God's nature. He loves genuinely. It was their disobedience that put them in a place where they were afraid of God. Giving in to the evil one left them feeling alone and vulnerable, carrying a

heavy burden that would not ever disappear. Too late they realized that they had allowed the evil one to take authority of both of them.

There were consequences. Adam and Eve could not stay in Eden any longer. Life in the garden had been easy for them, and they had enjoyed their work. Now their work would be harsh. The evil one had come on our planet to dominate us. In addition, they lost the opportunity to eat from the tree of Life "“The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” Gen 3:22-23

Adam and Eve found themselves living a nightmare that would follow them the rest of their life. Death came into our world through the evil one; however, through it all, our Father gave them a promise: ""And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." Gen 3:15

Our Father gave them hope, at the right time, the evil one will be destroyed. Adam and Eve held onto this promise in their hearts. There was hope!

Our God never leaves us. He always gives us hope. If we cannot hear Him, it is because we are focused on other things, our sins, our mistakes. Amazingly, our Father never puts us down. His promise of hope is for us as well.

I very much enjoyed the classes I have taught through the years. Even those in my challenging first year. However, there was this one student that first year, who always went against me, never agreeing with anything I said. In human's terms, she was a pain in my side. It seemed I couldn't help her at all. Whenever she put her hand up, I would think: "Not again!"

At the end of the term, she came to me and gave me a gift. I don't remember what I received, however, I still remember what she said: "Thank you so much for teaching me. You were the best teacher I ever had. Thank you for being my teacher." She smiled then, and when she left, I couldn't help but stare after her. What had happened?

I would later understand that she had learned from me through the many questions she asked. Even though the other students didn't like her questions, and neither did I, she learned what she needed to know.

This student taught me more far more than I ever taught her, and instead of being left demoralized, I had hope. My Father was helping me big time. Our God never leaves us without hope.

I often say that if a door closes, our Father will open the windows wide. It always happens that way, and I know I can trust our Father.

There may not be many presents under the Christmas tree this year, but the best present is God's presence in our hearts. After all, Christmas is a promise from God that we have hope, that all will be well. He is the savior!

In His Love,
