Do you Know you are Saved?

Do you Know you are Saved?

Arriving late in Belgium

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8 NIV)

What kind of power do we get from the Holy Spirit?

In the Greek language, in which this text was written, the word “power” is translated from the word “dunamis”, which also serves as the root for the English word “dynamite”. Thus, the Holy Spirit gives us dynamite: Dynamite to heal people; dynamite to cast demons; dynamite to calm the storms of our life; dynamite to do so much more!

All of us have that dynamite power when we accepted the Holy Spirit. It may start small, but then it mushrooms to become way bigger that we ever thought possible: “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.” (Luke 17:6 NIV).

This is amazing! All we need is just an inkling of faith for that dynamite power from the Holy Spirit to result! And the more you rely on Him, the more you will experience His dynamite power!

The Holy Spirit gives us real freedom: “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17 NIV). If you don’t experience freedom, come to the Holy Spirit and He will give it to you.

A long time ago I was part of a church that was completely centered on their doctrines. Although they would speak of the Holy Spirit, they didn’t know who He was. The sad part is that when we asked these Christians if they knew they were saved, theiy always answered: “I hope so.”

It was sad, but at the same time, if we don’t experience the Holy Spirit, we will have no confirmation that we are saved. The Bible tells us: “Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” (Romans 8:13-14 NIV).

Eventually I began to feel the emptiness that was inside of me, the emptiness that could have been filled with God’s Spirit, and I left that church. For several months after this, my old church would send me emails speaking against—and even mocking—God’s precious Spirit that now resides inside of me. The fact that they didn’t even know Who it was they were mocking made me cry. These members wanted to have confirmation that they were saved, but without the Holy Spirit, they were left standing on their own. The dynamite that was available to them was left to collect dust.

Anyone who relies on the Holy Spirit will experience His dynamite. Healings will occur and demons will shriek and run away. But more importantly, we will have no doubt that we are saved. Remember that Jesus died for us, our Heavenly Father loves us, and the Holy Spirit remains in us and guides us. Would a loving heavenly Father leave us to doubt something as important as our Salvation? No way. Our heavenly Father loves us genuinely, and He confirms that we are His sons and daughters for eternity: “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." (2 Corinthians 6:18 NIV) and “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus..” (Galatians 3:26 NIV)

May I ask you that all-important question: “Do you know you are saved?”
