Tribulations at Work

Tribulations at Work

Have fun at work!

Do I have to go to work? Bummer! I cannot wait to retire and be completely free. I still have twenty years before I can retire. Is there an early retirement?

With such an attitude, will we be able to bless those at our workplace? We do have problems and adversity; however, we are never ever alone! Wherever we are, our Heavenly Father is with us, caring for us.

The problem when we focus on ourselves, we won't be able to bathe in the presence of our Maker. The only way to experience our Father is to stand still and enjoy His presence. It's only then that we will be a blessing to those around us!

King David illustrates this vividly: "Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will lay hold of me. If I say, 'Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, And the light around me will be night,' Even the darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You. For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well." Psalm 139:7-14 (NASB)

Not only is our Father with us, He knows us intimately and He is willing to guide us. We don't need to walk like sour puss, our Father is with us and will give us the ability to bless others around us.

Work is truly a benediction, even though some bosses can be quite cruel. Instead of focusing on such sadists, let us focus on the genuine love of our Father. Just thinking of Him will fill us with peace. After all, Jesus died on a lonely cross, the worst death ever possible, but He willingly did so, so He could bless us for eternity. His focus was not on Himself, but on us!

Shouldn't we do the same? Here is the purpose of work, besides earning a living: "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve." Colossians 3:23-24 (NASB) When we work at our office, school or anywhere else, we work for our Heavenly Father! We do it all for God and we will be blessed when we do our task with a smile! It's guaranteed by our own Heavenly Father!

Long time ago, I had a boss that when she needed me, she was very friendly. If she didn't need me, she was nasty. She would never take responsibility, but would accuse any employee for her mistakes. The employees were scared of her, as she often belittles them in front of people, as if we were criminals.

It hurts when we are falsely accused. However, I found a way to enjoy my work, even when accusations were flying all over: I would focus solely on my Heavenly Father and my clientele. Doing so, I was blessed! After all, they were my customers. They appreciated that I always encouraged them. I was standing by them, no matter what.

Enjoy! Work can be a huge blessing if we focus on our Father and others. Bless those we meet. They too need encouragements and it will make us hunger to do our best at all times.

Where will we put on focus on: Our boss or our loving Father?
