Our Heavenly Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are nuts about us. In fact, "The Spirit of God whets our appetite by giving us a taste of what's ahead. He puts a little of heaven in our hearts so that we'll never settle for less." 2 Corinthians 5:5 (MSG) In addition, "What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we've been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for." 1 Peter 1:3 (MSG)
This is how much our Heavenly
Father loves us: "I (Jesus) came down from heaven not to follow my own whim but
to accomplish the will of the One who sent me." John 6:38 (MSG) Jesus left
heaven for us! Wow. There is no way our Father will ever abandon us! If His son
willingly died for us so that we could experience eternity in the Kingdom of our
Father, "Nothing", I repeat "Nothing could separate us from our Heavenly
Father!"
There are times, however, when we feel down. It's easy in such circumstances for
us to feel lonely and sometimes to even feel abandoned; but this is just not
true. Nothing can separate us from our Father! The evil one, however, will do
anything to try and make us believe differently. Who should we believe?
I had a hint, just a hint of how much God loves us while we were in Garray,
Spain. We were heading to a place where we could explore an ancient Roman
settlement. Unfortunately, we had no idea where it was located, and our GPS was
absolutely of no help. We saw a large parking place ahead, and we decided to try
our nearly-nonexistent Spanish to ask someone for help. "Disculpe. Donde es…"
The man smiled big at me, and he gave me the directions in Spanish. Fortunately
he used lots of gestures, and thanks to my Father, I understood what he said. I
thanked him profusely, returned to the car, and relayed the information to my
wife who was driving.
As she headed for the main road, my new Spanish friend was waiting for us. He
pointed out the direction we should turn at the next intersection. After all, he
knew we were foreigners and he couldn't be sure we had understood his message,
so he went out of his way to make certain we went on the right road, even though
we were total strangers, he cared for us.
Our Father constantly shows us the way. After all, didn't Jesus say: "I am the
way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:6 (NIV) He doesn't only know the way, He is the way. He, too, went out
of his way to show us "the" way! Why should we worry when our Heavenly Father
loves us so completely?
By the way, the Roman settlement was quite impressive, and we enjoyed our visit!
